Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Direct Access and Getting a Referral
Many people rely on insurance to pay for their Physical Therapy, and in many instances that means that they need to obtain a referral or prescription from their primary care provider, surgeon, or other doctors.

Direct access cuts out the middleman. Direct access offers patients the ability to access physical therapy services without first visiting another doctor. This saves you time and money when it comes to living a pain free life or recovering from an injury.

At Precision Performance Physical Therapy we have Pennsylvania Direct Access privileges. This means our Doctors of Physical Therapy can see you for 30 days without a referral whether you are in or out of network. By coming to see us first you can save the co-pays of seeing your physician and the costs of any images or special tests that you would otherwise need if you visit a Physical Therapy clinic without these privileges. If our therapists determine you need further care outside of our scope of practice we can then refer you to the proper medical professional, often helping you get priority scheduling.

What should I wear to my physical therapy appointment?
Loose fitting clothing and supportive sneakers are always a good choice. Your therapist will need to be able to examine your problem areas and you don’t want any movement being restricted by your clothing.
What does my insurance cover?
Every insurance company is different. You can call our front desk at for more information or email us at info@precisionperformancept.com
What do I need to bring with me?
If you have a referral from your doctor, please bring it with you. Additionally, if you intend to use your insurance, you will need to have your insurance card with you. We also ask that you bring a valid photo ID.
How many visits will I need?
Every patient is different. After your initial evaluation, your Physical Therapist will discuss the plan with you. Making sure the plan fits your wants, needs and goals.
How Long will my visit be?
Each visit will typically be 60 minutes.
Will my physical therapy be painful?
You may find yourself sore or feel some pain after a visit, very similarly to after an intense workout. This is because as we work on returning functional movement, we are also building and retaining muscle. If you have been living with chronic pain, you should start to feel less pain overall as your physical therapy progresses and your body gains strength.
Can you provide me a diagnosis?
As Doctors of Physical Therapy we are able to provide you with a diagnosis and refer you to the proper physician if deemed appropriate or necessary.
Can you prescribe me medication?
No, we are unable to prescribe medication. If medication is needed, you will need to see your primary care physician.
