Clinical Neurodynamics: Upper Quarter Course

About the Course

This two day, hands on clinical course introduces a practical system for assessing and treating upper quarter neurodynamic conditions. Built from the work of Michael Shacklock and the principles in Clinical Neurodynamics, this course gives clinicians a clear and structured way to evaluate neural involvement in common musculoskeletal problems. You will learn how to identify, differentiate and treat neurodynamic components within conditions of the cervical spine, thoracic spine, shoulder, elbow and wrist. The course blends theory and practical work and is designed to help clinicians build confidence with manual skills, movement testing and treatment progressions.

What You Will Learn

65:35 practical-theory

How nerves move and how to recognize
when they do not

When symptoms are neurodynamic, musculoskeletal or a combination

How to perform painless nerve root
mobilizations

How to create a neurodynamic diagnosis

How to select and apply the right techniques for each patient

Technique progressions from low irritability to higher functional levels

Improved manual skills for detecting abnormal
neural mechanics

Interpretation of neurodynamic tests and
musculoskeletal relationships

How to identify contraindications

Abilities in diagnosis and interpretation of neurodynamic testing and musculoskeletal relationships

Clinician’s repertoire of diagnosis and treatment of techniques

Safety in relation to neurodynamics

Ability to select appropriate treatment for specific functional disorders in neurodynamics

Ability to detect contraindications to neurodynamic treatment and when to stop treatment for safety reasons

Ability to progress treatment from low to high functional levels
